WINNERS OF THE FIRST EDITION OF THE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL NOVIGRAD
The closing of the Novigrad Short Film Festival was marked by the award ceremony for the best short film in the regional competition and the best short film in the international competition. After the three-day screening, the movie Presuda ("The Verdict") by Belgrade director Dora Jung was awarded by the audience votes.
The first prize in the regional production category, among the many productions from Croatia and Slovenia, went to the only film from Serbia, and the award was presented by the mayor of Novigrad, Anteo Milos.
The second prize in the category of international achievements went to the only film (in the category for competition) from Italy, and the prize was presented by the director of the Novigrad Tourist Board, Vesna Ferenac. The film Maria, directed by the directors duo Alessandro Vazzoler and Matteo Saliva, shot in our neighboring city of Trieste, is based on true events during World War II..
Out of 1,260 films registered at this year's festival, the organizers pointed out that the selection of films took a long time and was particularly difficult. 36 films were selected from applications all over the world, which were shown over the three festival days. Thus, the audience had the opportunity to see "the best of the best". Therefore it must be emphasized that the competition for the award was extremely strong. Congratulations to the authors of both the screened and awarded films at the Novigrad Short Film Festival 2022. There is no doubt that this will not be the last time we see the aforementioned authors on the big screen!
